The wait is over race fans; we have cars on the track! And Ty Dillon wasted no time, clocking in at a speed of 118.603 mph as he lead today’s final practice for the Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race tomorrow night. Kyle Busch also proved that he came to Richmond hungry, posting the second fastest speed at 117.714 mph. Cale Conley, Chase Elliott, and Brian Scott brought some heat of their own and rounded out the top five.

WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying kicks off at 3:40 p.m. tomorrow, marking the second time that the series has hosted knockout qualifying at RIR. If you missed it in April, be sure to come out tomorrow and catch the action live! We’ve got a full day of on-track action, starting at 9:00 a.m. with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice. At noon, grab some lunch, stroll through the Midway, and head over to the Amphitheater for the NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session.* But be sure to head back over to the grandstands at 3:40 p.m. for WRIC-TV8 NASCAR Nationwide Series Pole Qualifying and at 5:40 p.m. for Farm Bureau Insurance NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pole Qualifying.

And you know you’re going to have so much fun Friday that you’ll want to come back for Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, the “One Last Race to Make The Chase.” It’ll be one of the most intense and heated races of the season, with drivers battling for the final spots in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Once the checkered flag flies, the field will be set for the 10-race championship grid. Tickets start at $40and tickets for kids 12 and younger are $25 off the adult price in each section. Guests must have a wristband to participate in the autograph session. Wristbands will be available for pickup at the Virginia529 College Savings Plan Midway display starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, and will be distributed while supplies last. If you have a wristband, you may enter the Amphitheater at the Commonwealth Mall. You must have a Virginia529 College Savings 250 race ticket in order to receive a wristband and to access the autograph session.
