Chesterfield native, Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota went through three rounds of knockout qualifying during U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Pole Qualifying to come out on top.  ­Hamlin posted a speed of 122.344 mph to capture the number one starting position.

Kyle Larson will join Hamlin on the front row with a speed of 122.288 mph. This is Larson’s second front row start at Richmond International Raceway. Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, and Kurt Busch complete the top five.

Earlier today, Austin Dillion, driver of the No. 2 Ruud Chevrolet survived three rounds of knockout qualifying to capture the pole award for tonight’s Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race. ­­­­Dillion had the fastest time of 119.665 mph during NBC12 Pole Qualifying.

Joining Dillion, Alex Bowman will start on the front row after posting a speed of 119.633 mph (22.569 sec). Rounding out the top five are Justin Allgaier, Erik Jones, and Blake Koch.
