Richmond Raceway and Eternal Fan™ have grown their partnership to launch the Fan Memories™ – Fan of the Month program. The new program will highlight loyal Richmond fans who have a storied past with America’s Premier Short Track throughout the year. Whether they have been attending races for decades or are new to the sport, fans have the opportunity to nominate their fellow racing enthusiasts for the Fan Memories – Fan of the Month.
“Richmond Raceway has the most dedicated and passionate fans in all of NASCAR,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “The partnership with Eternal Fan for the Fan Memories – Fan of the Month will allow us to showcase some of our great fans we have and share their unique stories throughout the year. Additionally, the Fan Memories program is the perfect way for fans to seal their connection with America’s Premier Short Track. I look forward to seeing which fans are honored each month and welcoming them back for our two NASCAR race weekends at Richmond.”
The fan selected each month to represent Richmond fans will receive a special ticket package for the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway, courtesy of Eternal Fan. The fan of the month will be announced at the end of each month across the track’s online channels.
In addition to launching the Fan Memories – Fan of the Month program, Richmond and Eternal Fan asked fans to help name The World’s Largest Racing Piston in January. The 21-foot racing piston is home to Fan Spaces™ which can be purchased to place cherished items that commemorate a special time at America’s Premier Short Track. Fans were given three choices to pick from that all had a strong tie to Richmond Raceway.
With 52 percent of the vote, fans chose “Shorty” as the new name of The World’s Largest Racing Piston. The name Shorty honors Richmond’s over 70 years of short track racing and Racing Virginia’s numerous short tracks around the Commonwealth. One lucky voter was selected for a one-of-a-kind race day experience.
“We are pleased to have ‘Shorty’ be one of those iconic places where Memories are secured for the passionate Fans of Richmond and of racing,” said Eternal Fan President Matt Linn. “Fan Memories is a true legacy builder for the fans, both here and beyond our Commonwealth region.”
In 2018, Richmond partnered with Eternal Fan to bring the Fan Memories program to America’s Premier Short Track. As part of the partnership, Eternal Fan is the naming rights sponsor for the enhanced pedestrian tunnel that leads to the DC Solar FanGrounds. Once fans arrive in modernized infield, they are welcomed by the Fan Memories Plaques that honor loyal fans. Additionally, Shorty, The World’s Largest Piston, is home to spaces fans are able to purchase to safeguard previous objects and memories that represents their experience at Richmond.
