Richmond Raceway, Richmond Flying Squirrels, and Dominion Energy Charity Classic (Charity Classic) officials announced today the 6th Annual Turn Left Golf Classic presented by Cranemasters will take place on Monday, Oct. 21. The event will be hosted on The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course following the completion of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. Participants will play the PGA TOUR Champions tournament course in the same condition and with the same pin placements as the pros did on Sunday, October 20 during the Charity Classic.
“The Turn Left Golf Classic brings together three Richmond sports organizations to help better our local community,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “We appreciate the support of our partners and friends who have assisted with this initiative since we started the event six years ago. We look forward to raising funds for a worthy cause and providing another outstanding event to our participants.”
The Turn Left Golf Classic has a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Prizes will be allotted to the top three foursomes and a post-event dinner on the back lawn is included with the registration price. Early bird pricing is available when registering a foursome team, hole sponsor, or a foursome team and hole sponsor package. Special early bird pricing ends on Sept. 13. “We have enjoyed an outstanding relationship with Richmond Raceway throughout our ten years and were pleased to join forces with them and the Dominion Energy Charity Classic last year,” Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell said. “The beautiful championship setting and the combined synergies of these three organizations make this tournament not only a community impactor but a memory-making machine.”
In 2014, the Turn Left Golf Classic was created to benefit Flying Squirrels Charities and Richmond Raceway Cares, two 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations. This will be the second year the event is hosted by the PGA TOUR and Dominion Energy on the day following the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
“We are glad to once again partner with the Flying Squirrels and Richmond Raceway to host their golf tournament after the conclusion of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic,” said Charity Classic Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld. “Working to generate charitable contributions in our community is at the heart of the Charity Classic, so to help the Squirrels and the Raceway in their efforts is a natural fit for us.”
The Dominion Energy Charity Classic at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course will be held on Oct. 17-20, where the top 72 PGA TOUR Champions players will compete in the first event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs.
