Richmond Raceway (Richmond) and AEG Presents announce popular punk rock bands Rancid and Dropkick Murphys, and special guests Gerry Cinnamon, as part of the Virginia Lottery Concert Series to play at Virginia Credit Union LIVE! at Richmond Raceway on Monday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. With today’s announcement, tickets are officially on sale to the public online at vaculive.com or in-person at The National Box Office at 708 East Broad Street in Richmond, Va.

Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, Ca., in 1991. The band was one of the first groups to bring mainstream interest to punk rock in the mid-1990’s. The band is made up of founding members Tim Armstrong on guitar and vocals and Matt Freeman on bass and vocals, along with Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals and Branden Steineckert on drums.

The band has released nine studio albums selling over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful independent punk rock groups of all-time. Dropkick Murphys is an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Mass., in 1996. The band consists of Ken Casey on bass guitar and lead vocals, Matt Kelly on drums, bodhran, and backing vocals, Al Barr on lead vocals, James Lynch on guitar and backing vocals, Tim Brennan on accordion, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, keyboard, piano, tin whistle, backing vocals, and lead guitar, and Jeff DaRosa on banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, keyboard, piano, harmonica, tin whistle, and backing vocals.

The band has released nine albums and gaining mainstream popularity for their tours and annual St. Patrick’s Day shows held around Boston, Mass. Dropkick Murphy’s two biggest hits, 2004’s “Tessie” and 2005’s “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.” The latter was featured in 2006 Academy Award winning movie, The Departed. PRIMUS and special guests Wolfmother and The Sword as part of A Tribute To Kings Tour join the Virginia Lottery Concert Series to play at Virginia Credit Union LIVE! at Richmond Raceway on Monday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. A Tribute To Kings tour will showcase PRIMUS performing Rush’s entire classic album, A Farewell To Kings, in addition to their own music. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.

The Avett Brothers, one of the top folk-rock acts in the country, perform their iconic sound at Virginia Credit Union LIVE! on Sunday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Richmond Raceway 2020 Season

Richmond will host the Toyota Spring Race Weekend on April 17-19. NASCAR’s best will compete for a spot in the playoffs in the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) race on Sunday, April 19. The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will return to America’s Premier Short Track for the ToyotaCare 250 “under the lights” on Saturday, April 18. This will be the first Gander Truck race at Richmond since 2005. Practice day for the NCS and Gander Truck is on Friday, April 17.

For the first time in 11 years, the NTT IndyCar Series will race at Richmond “under the lights” on Saturday, June 27. Richmond will host a festival headlined by the NTT IndyCar Series, welcoming fans to engage in a speed-themed weekend event on June 26-27.

The road to the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship will once again lead through Richmond on Sept. 11-12. The Action Track will be the second race of the first round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for the ninth annual Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday, Sept. 12. Richmond will also host the Go Bowling 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular Season Championship race on Friday, Sept. 11. This will be the 29th consecutive year the fall race weekend is “under the lights” at Richmond.
