Richmond Raceway eSports Fueled by Sunoco Competes in eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series Playoffs
Richmond Raceway (Richmond) eSports Fueled by Sunoco will be represented in the eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series (eNPAiS) Playoffs with Jimmy Mullis, driver of the No. 46 Federated Auto Parts 400/Sim Seats Toyota Camry. Mullis earned the eighth and final spot in the eNPAiS Playoffs, and is just six points behind the leader as they enter the first playoff race at Darlington Raceway.
“Richmond Raceway eSports Fueled by Sunoco has been a consistent competitor in the eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series again this season, and now Jimmy Mullis is giving us a chance to win a championship,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “Richmond believes in the future of eSports, along with our partners with Sunoco and Sim Seats, so we look forward to cheering on our Richmond Raceway eSports in the eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series Playoffs.”
The eNPAiS Playoffs will feature four races: Darlington Raceway on August 27, Indianapolis Motor Speedway on September 10, the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway on September 24, and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 8. The top four drivers in points after the first three races will make it to the Championship 4 at Homestead. The highest finisher among the four contenders at Homestead will be crowned the champion.
“After all the work we have put into this season, it is a huge accomplishment to have a shot at the eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series championship,” said Jimmy Mullis, driver of the No. 46 Federated Auto Parts/Sim Seat Toyota Camry. “Thanks to Richmond Raceway, Sunoco, and Sim Seats for their support this season.”
For tonight’s eNPAiS Playoff race at Darlington Raceway, Jimmy Mullis and Richmond Raceway eSports Fueled by Sunoco teammate Malik Ray will be running throwback race cars. Mullis will be driving a No. 46 Federated Auto Parts 400/Sim Seats Toyota Camry throwback resembling Ken Schrader’s 2001 Gander Outdoors Truck Series scheme. Ray will by racing a 1990’s Jeff Fuller themed throwback in his No. 90 Sunoco/Sim Seats Toyota Camry.
Last week, Mullis and Ray had the chance to meet and race with Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 43 for Richard Petty Motorsports in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Wallace competed with Mullis and Ray in timed laps in a Monster Energy Series car on Richmond’s famed ¾-mile D-shaped oval on an iRacing rig built by Sims Seats.
They stepped away from iRacing to compete in timed laps in a Legends Car on the Legends Oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was the second time for Mullis and first time for Ray to drive in a Legends Car, so Wallace coached both racers as they competed.
Earlier this year, Richmond and Sunoco partnered to continue the evolution of the track’s growing eSports platform. Sunoco, the official fuel of NASCAR since 2004 and the exclusive fuel provider for all three national racing series in the sport, is the naming rights sponsor for the entire Richmond Raceway eSports program. Richmond Raceway eSports Fueled by Sunoco competes in the eNPAiS as well as hosts eSports race competitions on Xbox One and Playstation 4 leading up to each NASCAR race weekend.
