Elliott Sadler Tours Strike Fighter Squadron Eighty One at Naval Air Station Oceana

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Elliott Sadler spent time Tuesday with the sailors of Strike Fighter Squadron Eighty One at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. No stranger to high speeds and big thrills, Sadler toured the base, took in the sights from the observation platform and even strapped in for a ride in an F/A-18E "Super Hornet" flight simulator.

Track Hosting Fourth Annual Blood Drive Thursday, September 9

Richmond International Raceway will host its annual Drive for Life, a Virginia Blood Services blood drive, on Thursday, September 9, from noon to 5 p.m. in the historic Old Dominion Building. Participants should enter the property at Gate 4, off of Laburnum Avenue. Richmond International Raceway’s Drive for Life is a partnership between the track and Virginia Blood Services. Donors may register in advance by logging on to www.vablood.org.

Strasburg, Who? Richmond International Raceway's #1 Pick Takes the Mound Tuesday Night at Flying Squirrels Game

While much of the sports world is anticipating tomorrow night’s debut of Washington Nationals phenom pitcher and last year’s #1 draft pick, Stephen Strasburg, fans in Richmond, Virginia are focused on the AA Eastern League appearance of Richmond International Raceway’s #1 pick, Doug Fritz. The track president will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch tomorrow night before the Richmond Flying Squirrels vs. New Britain Rock Cats game at The Diamond. Fritz, who has been clocked at more than 35 mph, is scheduled to take the bump at 6:45 p.m.
