RICHMOND, Va. (December 10, 2025) – Richmond Raceway and Who’s Your Driver are teaming up once again for the 2026 NASCAR race weekend at Richmond Raceway, Aug. 14-15. The sober and safe driving initiative created by DRIVE SMART Virgina will return as the presenting partner for the NASCAR Weekend at Richmond Raceway presented by Who’s Your Driver.
“Having Who’s Your Driver continuously return to Richmond Raceway as presenting partner is a testament to the excitement and energy this NASCAR race weekend brings to the city of Richmond,” said Richmond Raceway President Lori Collier Waran. “As we gear up for the year ahead and prepare to support our favorite drivers on track, we also equally appreciate the designated drivers who help get our fans home safely.”
In addition to DRIVE SMART Virginia, the Who’s Your Driver campaign was created in conjunction with the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Highway Safety Office and Richmond Raceway. The campaign promotes safe and sober driving and encourages drivers to take their role seriously by buckling up, never driving under the influence, and doing everything they can to keep themselves and others protected on the roads. Who’s Your Driver will also be present in various at-track signage at Richmond Raceway.
“DRIVE SMART Virginia is proud to partner with NASCAR and the Virginia DMV to continue the Who’s Your Driver designated driver program,” said Kristin Pettway, Executive Director of DRIVE SMART Virginia. “Last year, we received around 1,000 safe driving pledges from NASCAR fans. We’re using the power of racing, community, and shared responsibility to remind everyone that safe choices save lives.”
In 2024, 6,767 crashes involved alcohol and 318 people were killed as the result of alcohol-related traffic crashes in Virginia. In addition to alcohol-related accidents, Who’s Your Driver encourages passengers and drivers to buckle up, with seatbelts saving nearly 15,000 lives in the U.S. each year.
“Our agency couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this partnership,” said Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Gerald Lackey, the Governor’s Safety Representative. “Working with such a dynamic NASCAR talent like Ross Chastain has been electric, and his dedication to sharing a message of safety helps save lives on our roadways. The reminder to never drive impaired is a vital one and we’re fired up to continue this great work together next year.”
The NASCAR Weekend at Richmond Raceway presented by Who’s Your Driver will fire off with the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series competing under the lights at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 14. The action will conclude with the return of Saturday night racing in Richmond as the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series battle it out at 7:00 p.m. ET on Aug. 15.
